I've been thinking about doing something similar on advertising for a while now. You may have just pushed me over the top. I particularly like No. 2 and No. 5. One major question I always have is how a piece of journalism makes me, or my readers, or the community, smarter or happier. If it doesn't do either, why bother? Good stuff.
